Strong female characters and great acting all round... my kind of Western! Ex-Confederate soldier Jefferson Waring (John Ireland) rides West from Virginia to Missouri in order to escape a life of awful killing. Jeff however learns that perhaps, some things are worth fighting for.
A bunch of thugs on the pay-roll of Artemus Taylor (Lon Chaney Jr.), lead by Norah Taylor (Myrna Dell), are murdering homesteaders! Why? Because new rail roads means land is a valuable commodity these days... worth killing innocents for. Luckily for the citizens of Independence, Cathy and Peter Sharpe (Dorothy Malone and Frank Marlowe), bad ass journalists (well, Cathy is anyway), are on the case to convince the homesteaders to defend what's theirs... with Jeff's help of course.
