Description

1914 silent fantasy film made by L. Frank Baum's The Oz Film Manufacturing Company and based upon his book, The Patchwork Girl of Oz. It is the first feature-length film taking place in the Land of Oz and is also notable for the early roles of Hal Roach & Harold Lloyd. The cast and characters are:
Violet MacMillan ... Ojo, a Munchkin Boy
Frank Moore ... Unc Nunkie, Ojo's Guardian
Raymond Dr. Pipt, the Crooked Magician
Leontine Dranet ... Margolotte, his wife
Bobbie Gould ... Jesseva, his daughter, betrothed to Danx
Richard Rosson ... Danx, a Noble Munchkin
Todd Wright ... The Wizard of Oz
Bert Glennon ... The Scarecrow
Hal Roach ... The Cowardly Lion
Dave Anderson ... The Hungry Tiger
Lon Musgrave ... The Tin Woodman
Marie Wayne ... Jinjur, a Maid in the Emerald City
Jessie Walsh ... Ozma of Oz, Ruler of the Emerald City
Frank Bristol ... Omby Amby
Fred Woodward ... The Woozy / The Zoop / Mewel
Pierre Couderc ... Scraps, the Patchwork Girl
Harold Lloyd ... Tottenhot
A few elements are remade in in "Oz the Great and Powerful", directed by Sam Raimi and released in 2013. The remake stars James Franco as Oscar Diggs, otherwise known as "The Wizard of Oz". It also stars Mila Kunis as Theodora, Michelle Williams as Glinda, and Rachel Weisz as Evanora.
